Miguel Torres was born in Madrid in 1948. Keen on artistic endeavours from an early age, he chose to study drawing and painting and was awarded a coveted place to study art at the famous and prestigious Bellas Artes of San George in Barcelona.
In Barcelona Miguel absorbed the influences of some of the country’s most revered teachers and resident artists, and spent much of his time in the Miro Museum, or walking the city streets immersing himself in a world of art and culture. After completing his studies he travelled around his homeland for several years, working with other artists and painting landscapes as varied as the country itself.
Miguel paints en plein air (outdoors on location) in oils on canvas. His vibrant landscapes draw the eye in towards a misty horizon and are brimming with light and colour. Each work calls to mind the heat of the Mediterranean represents a vivid and heartfelt tribute to the artist’s homeland. of the artist’s homeland.
After a life filled with travel and discovery Miguel has now settled back home in Madrid with his family. He has become a well-established name on the Spanish contemporary scene, and his work is now beginning to make an impact in Europe.
