In this beautiful and diverse new collection, Danielle O’Connor Akiyama explores a symbolic world of light and colour, while inviting us to discover, reflect on and ‘honour’ our own personal odyssey. A world-renowned artist and inspirational thinker, Akiyama has received numerous awards for her paintings. During her training she studied Japanese brush painting (Sumi-e) and was awarded the prestigious Master’s Seal for outstanding work, and her distinctive fusion of eastern and western artistry has led to her works being highly prized by art collectors from both sides of the Pacific. Her intricate brushwork combined with her distinctive vocabulary of signs and symbols make up a unique artistic language which renders Akiyama’s work instantly recognisable.
