Carl Payne - Master of modern sculpture

Carl Payne’s mesmerising new release for spring is his second piece inspired by one of the most popular and best loved ballets ever created. Rather than a traditional dance sculpture of a complete figure, he has created a bust, portraying the head and shoulders of Odile – one of the two complex and enigmatic swan maidens in Swan Lake. This thought-provoking and beautiful piece is no less inspired by the world of dance, yet Carl has examined this idea from a whole new angle – that of facial expression rather than the shaping and movement of a dancer’s body.
