Carl Payne – The Swan Princess

Carl Payne’s mesmerising new release for autumn represents both an addition to his dance-inspired collection and a departure from it. For the first time, rather than a complete figure he has created a bust, portraying the head and shoulders of Odette - a complex and enigmatic character from Swan Lake, one of the most popular and best loved ballets ever created. This thought-provoking and beautiful piece is no less inspired by the world of dance, yet Carl has examined this idea from a whole new angle – that of facial expression rather than the shaping and movement of a dancer’s body. As with all of his work it has been lovingly created first in his studio and then in his foundry as a pure bronze exclusive edition of 49.
