Although Michael studied fine art at Staffordshire, it was the traditions of his home town of Stoke-on-Trent which inspired his love for sculpture. The famous towns forming the ‘Potteries’ have originated some of the world’s finest three dimensional work, and the art of the sculptor is held in high esteem here, so his childhood was steeped in three dimensional art. It has also influenced his attitude to creating sculpture which he sees as both an art and a craft. It takes him several weeks to work through the stages of each one, from conception through to completion, and this results in a beautiful and tactile object which will last across the generations. Michael’s previous collections have all sold out on release, so we anticipate a rapturous reaction to these charming new sculptures.
